My approach to college counseling is Socratic, pragmatic, and 1:1. It is an honor to be able to work with students and families on the path to higher education. I bring fifteen years of professional experience in selective and highly selective college admission to this work. I am deeply committed to the students I guide through the college search and admission process.

I differentiate from other college counselors and counseling agencies in a few ways. First, my comprehensive guidance continues far beyond the submission of applications. I work with students and families on negotiating cost of attendance (merit aid), the choice of enrollment, and college readiness and success. I hope to maintain contact with students and families well after the start of freshman year.

Comprehensive college counseling is preferable. With this approach, the student is incentivized to make full use of my time and engage in extensive back-and-forth.

Cost of attendance is one of the first things that I discuss with students and families. Indeed, in April of 2024, Vanderbilt University announced that their full cost of attendance would exceed $100,000 per year in 2025 - an extraordinary milestone. Thinking about cost focuses a student's attention on the significant investment that higher education represents.

Today financial aid and merit scholarships are a part of many students' college process. I bring a synoptic view and a critical eye to both published information and the negotiations required to maximize aid awards.
